Students at an ultra-liberal Ohio college are in an uproar over the fried chicken, sushi and Vietnamese sandwiches served in the school cafeterias, complaining the dishes are "insensitive" and "culturally inappropriate."

Gastronomically correct students at Oberlin College — alma mater of Lena Dunham — are filling the school newspaper with complaints and demanding meetings with campus dining officials and even the college president.

Is it that students, especially college-types are getting so sensitive that they break out in a rash overtime one of their 'feelers' gets brushed? Or is it that the newspapers are finding it so easy to find these stories that were formerly confined to the local news? Still, no matter what, these precious snowflakes and their incessant demands to order the various college presidents to DO SOMETHING is getting quite out-of-hand!

Has it never occurred to these kids that embracing these foods is a compliment to the culture that created them? And also financially rewarding to them?

Hi.

Methinks some fried chicken, okra and potato salad are in order for today.

I wonder if I can find a watermelon...?

Food often bridges the great divide of diversity. Food is a celebration of culture, taste, and most importantly friendship.

Soon we will see only Chinese can go to Chinese restaurant, and Caucasian enjoying some Thai Pad will be arrested for cultural insensitivity....

How do we address this generation’s fears and low self esteem. The liberals fed their egos and destroyed them. Now everything is an offense as opposed to celebration.

Anybody else remember the ‘firestorm’ that occurred when in 1997, Fuzzy Zoeller suggested that new Masters Champion Tiger Woods not order fried chicken or collard greens for the next years honoree dinner? After being caught on video, it was apology season for almost forever because he was stereotyping.

Now, at Oberlin, you have demands that fried chicken be made permanent for Sunday? Consistency is only found in consistent complaints and being offended!

Sounds like bad food. But that would not be important enough for these idiots. Plus, they’ve never heard of adaptation of recipes and ingredients from country to country or fusion? Lack of education strikes again.

We have watermelon at our local supermarket but they are from Brazil and they taste nasty!

I didn't read the article but all I need to get me going is to see Lena Dunhams name in print!

If you read the article - aside from these stupid kids - you’ll see that - quel surprise! - colleges are serving bad food. Beef Tandoori would insure the toughest, nastiest little bit of cow ever imagined.

Feed them All-American canned peas — and nothing else.

At every meal.

They are upset that they are not being served culturally correct:

“General Tso’s chicken was made with steamed chicken instead of fried — which is not authentically Chinese, and simply “weird,” one student bellyached in the Oberlin Review.

Others were up in arms over banh mi Vietnamese sandwiches served with coleslaw instead of pickled vegetables, and on ciabatta bread, rather than the traditional French baguette.”

I just can’t believe some of the things these college kids are complaining about nowadays.

Has political correctness metastasized in our younger generation to heights of absurdity???

Comedian Seinfeld says he won’t do comedy at colleges anymore, due to the college kids charging that he is insensitive, bigoted, etc. Seinfeld leans liberal in his comedy as I understand it, but he’s a liberal leaning comic who is willing to call a spade a spade.

As we are told that our children are our future, that these college kids are our future leaders of business and education and government, it makes me shudder for the future of this great nation. Inane college kids who are upset about Chinese food and whether it’s politically correct or insensitive are going to be our future leaders in this country. I shudder to think what’s next.

It’s restaurant supply chain food—Sysco or U. S. Foods, etc. If they want GOOD food, they’ll have to cook it for themselves. If they CAN... ;)

They can’t even find real racism, oppression, etc, so they complain about the food.
Should everyone just get rice and beans and be told it is vegan, without privilege and safe for everyone so shut up?

Any bets these same people could find no end of things that need to be changed about traditional American food?
