RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia will no longer recognize concealed handgun permits from more than two dozen states that have less stringent laws.

Attorney General Mark Herring said Tuesday that the state will revoke its reciprocity agreement with 25 states after a review found that their permit requirements are weaker than Virginia’s. The change takes effect Feb. 1.

Yes. Elected by the Northern VA liberals. The southern VA conservatives have lost their voice.

Something tells me that Herring is a lying sack of you-know-what.

Elections have consequences. Virginia elects Democrat crooks Governor and Attorney General and things like this happen.

I have no desire to go to Virginia anyway. They voted for oppression, they can have it.

Or, one cut and paste does both. No ooops. Inserted as intended. It still gets you to where you want to go. :)

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming

This was the list of states that had reciprocity agreements with Virginia. Other than West Virginia 25 of these will no longer be in this list.

I have grandkids still there. I need to visit occasionally. I also still have contacts in the statehouse. We’ll see if anything becomes of them.

Lazy, sloppy postings like yours is why the quality of Free Republic has sunk, and why FReepathons last 100 - 115 days.

This will affect the ability of Virginians to carry across state lines in those states as well. But Virginia is an open carry state, so couldn’t you still do that regardless?

‘Permit requirements are weaker....’

Guess the First Amendment to the United States’ Constitution is considered weak in Virginia.

Wonder what Thomas Jefferon, James Madison, and George Washington would say to that.

Some of these states require permits to open carry. Don’t know how that would play out. Virginia also allows cities and counties to pass their own gun legislation.

§ 18.2-287.4.
It shall be unlawful for any person to carry a loaded (a) semi-automatic center-fire rifle or pistol that expels single or multiple projectiles by action of an explosion of a combustible material and is equipped at the time of the offense with a magazine that will hold more than 20 rounds of ammunition or designed by the manufacturer to accommodate a silencer or equipped with a folding stock or (b) shotgun with a magazine that will hold more than seven rounds of the longest ammunition for which it is chambered on or about his person on any public street, road, alley, sidewalk, public right-of-way, or in any public park or any other place of whatever nature that is open to the public in the Cities of Alexandria, Chesapeake, Fairfax, Falls Church, Newport News, Norfolk, Richmond, or Virginia Beach or in the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Henrico, Loudoun, or Prince William.

Say what? Enlighten me.

Lazy, sloppy threads with no effort to even post the headline. Lazy, sloppy threads that change and alter the headline. Lazy, sloppy threads with a 10 word excerpt because the lazy, sloppy poster was too lazy and sloppy to post a decent excerpt. Lazy, sloppy duplicate threads that are a rehash of 10 previous threads on the same subject. Lazy, sloppy FReepers who wake up, see some breaking news on CNN or Drudge and then post that same news to breaking News regardless of the fact that it's been in Breaking for an hour or more.

But most of the blame must remain with the mods and Jim Rob who need to do a better job of policing up and cleaning up the threads around here.

(IMHO)

So I violated your sensibility. Complain to me when I violate the FR requirements for posting. Other than that, go back to sleep.
