It was worse than that, Trump sided with the liberals in his opposition to them. My point regarding immigration is that, as we all know, Romney was VERY WEAK on immigration. Yet, Trump stated this policy was too harsh and would anger hispanics. That was 3 short years ago, yet we are supposed to believe that Trump has changed his Core Principles so thoroughly?
The same security, Trump joined the left in attacking GWB and his work to prevent another 9-11. HE JOINED THE LEFT IN THEIR ATTACKS. Yet, we are supposed to think he has changed his core principles on this as well.
All I am saying is that on the 2 most important issues to you, and many Conservatives, Trump has stood against them in the recent past. Yet, no one knows what caused such transformation in his core. His positions were one thing, now they are the opposite.
The most likely explanation is that he is simply a populist.

Trump will not be rounding up millions at one time and shipping them off. It will not happen. We have laws that need to be enforced.
Ike deported a million when Hispanics were not a political power.
Ike deported 25% and the rest left in their own. Without starting the deportations and having the fear of deportation, self-deportation will not work completely.
Well, if we don’t get rid of them, they’ll take over and we’ll becC3rd world socialized cesspool. They are not such a political force now that they can stop anything. Nor do i think the legal ones all fall into the category of wanting to.
But what is super-nice is we are discussing the same objective, the only difference is how to get there. At one time, many Republicans- even here - were in the tank for amnesty. People I know were banned for backing the Minutemen and not backing W. I don’t know what caused the change, but I like it ;) And thank you for your civility. That is also a novelty here at times, LOL!
I could also ask why Cruz doesn’t want a 500% increase in H1B’s and why he’s no longer for legal status. Those were his positions. Legal status still might be - he has been vague about it.
Trump’s plans sound stronger and more consistent with everything he’s saying today.
I have the choice of hoping he’ll follow through or backing someone who sounds weak, hoping he’ll become strong and then follow through. With Trump I’m one step closer.

Of course he is a populist. Right now we need a Jackson who is willing to close the fed so to speak. No one else shows much willingness to go that far including Cruz.
