A school cafeteria worker in Idaho says she was fired after giving a hungry middle school student a free lunch.
Dalene Bowden, a server at Irving Middle School in Pocatello, told NBC affiliate KPVI in Idaho that she gave the hot meal to a 12-year-old girl with no lunch money whom said she was hungry on Dec. 15.

0bama wasn’t fired for stealing ice cream where he worked and giving it to kids. Set the example, right?
I think she was hired back. but they’ve installed cameras :)
How’s about bringing lunch that your mother made to school?
remember that insane idea?
that was as crazy as getting married before having a kid!!!
or a job!!!
boy, thank God those days are over!!!
She did not give the student the “free lunch” (cheese sandwich and milk). She gave the student the hot lunch, which costs $1.70, and she did not offer to pay for it until she got caught.
And?

She exercised adult good judgement. I’m sure she sleeps well at night.
But didn’t offer pay for the lunch herself.
I am sorry, as much money as I pay in taxes for the government to piss away, I am sure that $1.70 is not going to break the bank.
Thank God there are people out there who have a conscience and compassion for those in need.
I hope that you never find yourself in need. Scrooge would be proud of you.
Sorry for the rant however until you have walked in anothers shoes you do not know.
That obviously didn't happen did it? Screw the 12 year old kid, let her go hungry..
Love your rationale!
That’s not what this article says. Do you have another source?
More here:
All this over $1.70? What is this country coming to?
Were those the only choices? Steal or starve? Do you really not believe that the employee had a duty to pay for the meal?
Why don't you send the employee $1.70 to cover the theft? Will you steal the $1.70 or will you provide your own hard earned money?
She has been offered her job back.
So you would rather condemn the employee who provided a free meal to a 12 year old child than recognize the humanitarian basis of her actions and instead choose to condemn her.........?
Does it really matter whether or not the server actually "paid" for the meal for this child?
She has been offered her job back.
Of course I do, especially having grown up in a small town in northern Michigan.
Lunches then cost us $.35 and there were a number of fellow students who were allowed to pass thru the lunch line free of charge since it was known they had no means to pay for their lunch............
With that being said, why are you and several others here so intent on prosecuting a school employee for showing Christian compassion in providing a free meal to a 12 year old child, regardless of who pays for it??????????
