PHILADELPHIA (AP) â The latest on a Philadelphia police officer shot while sitting in a police cruiser (all times local):
1:15 p.m.
Police say the suspect in the shooting of a Philadelphia police officer told investigators that he shot the officer in the name of Islam and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group.
They also say the man, who has addresses in Philadelphia and the suburb of Yeadon, used a stolen police gun in the crime.
Police officials say the gun was reported stolen from an officer's home in October 2013 but they don't know how many hands it passed through before being used in the Thursday night shooting.
The wounded officer has been identified as Officer Jesse Hartnett. He was shot three times in the arm. Hartnett fired back and wounded the suspect.

Its workplace violence.
Philadelphia? Amish, of course.
No, no, it’s climate change.
It’s your fault for having electricity and driving a car.
It’s hardly been mentioned on the news especially CNN which like to mention cops shooting.
“Edward Archer” - a black convert, in other words. Btw, his mother says he was “always a good boy.”
How come this is ALL OVER FOX for the last hour, but not on “Breaking News” here? Meanwhile, another snoozer “campaign for Trump” is “breaking!!!!” on FR but not something actually unexpected and threatening like this.
“A motive for the shooting remains unclear.” What a load of crap. It’s very clear why he shot the officer. He’s a dirtbag, Muslim, Isis, loving terrorist.
Since he’s a certain type, and in Philly, I suspect he’s combining general Moslem mayhem with certain-type grievance violence.
“It had nothing to do with Islam.”
BTW, cops reporting guns stolen in Philly has a purpose on many levels. A gun reported stolen can show up anywhere when needed to get someone off the street for five years. North Detectives got in a lot of trouble with the FBI over the whole stolen gun thing.
I hope the cop suffers no permanent problems from this. 75% of them are decent guys. The other 25% deserve to be safe and least paranoid as possible. This doesn't help.
I guess he's accusing the shooter of lying about his motivation.
