If Ares 3 had been an actual mission, the crew would have sought shelter either in the Hab or one of the rovers, and spent some time shoveling out. It would not have made a very compelling story.
Actually in was Mars by 1968 and Saturn by 1972. The first expeditions to A Centauri would be history and probes - manned or not - would be well under way ...

Actually back when the first Rover was exploring, it took an image of the face of a rock and then proceeded to grind the face off to see what was below. The face, before it was ground, showed what looked like a fossilized Sea Anemone ... The images may still be on NASA’s servers, but I haven’t looked in years.
NASA loves to play tricks on the public. For instance: Mars has a blue, not red, sky ... when the first color images came back to NASA’s painstakingly color corrected monitors, the moderator quickly adjusted the sky color to red ...

Not quite. The formula for wind force (drag) on an object says that the wind force is proportional to the air density times velocity squared. The air pressure on Mars is about 0.6% of the pressure on earth, which is roughly proportional to the density, depending on the composition of the air. Assuming it's proportional, you get a wind speed of about 900 mph on Mars would be equivalent to a wind speed of 70 mph on earth. (70/(sqrt(.006))
