In recent years, it seems that the movies nominated tend to be art house movies which nobody has seen, and they push a liberal agenda of some kind.

So I’m good with a boycott. If I watched I would have Jo idea what the movies are, but if I did catch on I would learn that the selected movies and actors are pushing liberalism. No thanks.

I stopped watching stand up comics shows for the same reason. You have to be liberal to get the jokes and think they are funny. So I abstain .

Well, it starts at 2pm practically. I’ve been in LA during the awards ceremony. They should just declare it a holiday.

I watched it relentlessly in the 60s & 70s. I guess I watched it up through Jack Nicholson winning. I haven’t watched the Tonys since they ruined it. Used to be the best awards show.

I have boycotted them for the last 30 plus years and the movies themselves for at least the last 8.

I’ve been boycotting the Oscars for two decades — due to the fact that they are so incredibly banal and boring.

I suspect most of you won't watch anyway,

I haven't watched them at all, for more years then I really care to remember. They rate right up there with me along with the Superbowl (& I quit watching the NFL in 1982...)

I doubt I’ll watch, and for reasons that having nothing to do with your mewling boycott. The show has simply grown too long and boring.

That's the spirit. I suspected most FReepers would not be caught dead supporting the morally bankrupt event, but I just thought I'd prod the fence-sitters.

These award shows are nothing more than an attempt to glamorize professions that are almost universally populated by soulless, godless sybarites, and to recapture some of the manufactured "glamour" of the Hollywood heyday. But as we've found out over the years, the glamour is as fake as the sets and the stories themselves. Behind that cardboard scenery and the bright lights is a pool of depravity, despair, and self-indulgence that makes a sewer look like Walden's Pond.

These people are unworthy of our respect.

Let us see, I think the hollyweird show loses to the Walking Dead show by the slim margin of 100% in this house.

I haven’t had cable or satellite television for the past few years (by choice).

And when I did, the last time I watched the Oscars was probably in the 1990s.

What you said. Almost all of the actors, directors, producers, etc. are dull and uncharismatic, have nothing interesting, witty or intelligent to say, and in the case of the actors and actresses, are not really much to look at compared to truly beautiful/handsome and glamorous stars of the past.

But, but, but, but... Don’t you want to see Chris Rock “Stick it to da Man?” I mean, dude’ll be on Fi-ya! Every honkey cracka-a$$ will be talked back to and put in their place, which is kissin’ black a$$!

Not only don't I want to see that scrawny chicken-necked maggot, I don't want to see Ellen Degeneres, Alec Baldwin, Leonardo Dicaprio, George Looney, Jamie Foxx, or any of the other cast of thousands who left their clues and their morals at home.

I have more respect for the guy who sweeps the set than those vain hams.

Thank you Iron!

As an aside I’d like to reference all the homosexual molestation that goes on there also.

Think Danny Pintauro and Corey Haim.
