Has your chicken survived her illness?

Today is my daughter’s birthday and thankfully I am back. We just had a delicious lunch. Tonight I have to give my annual gag gift speech at our fire department banquet. Yikes. I am not ready after being sick for three days!

Dixie Chicken is hanging in there. Her comb is still droopy which suggests some dehydration, and her balance is off if she tries to move quickly. She has gained back some weight and is still on daily vitamins but I stopped the antibiotics since I think they were causing GI problems for her. She has a good appetite and is more active so I think she is making progress. Two of the new young pullets are at the point of lay, judging by their comb colors and behaviors. I can’t wait to see those blue eggs!

I’m glad Dixie is doing better-and blue eggs just in time for Easter is cool...
