Video at link shows the apology yesterday made by the senior Marine Corps brass in Okinawa, Japan over a increasingly hot situation in the form of an alleged rape of a Japanese woman in a hotel room by a Marine stationed in the island. I believe the alleged perp has been remanded to Japanese custody where he will face the Jaoanwse justice system.

My son went to Oki with the Corps in 2014 and they were very restricted about what they could do and where they could go because of past Navy atrocities. My kiddo was there for 7 months and didn’t leave the base except for one official event.

Sad, too, since my mom loved Japan from when she worked at the Philly Naval Yard doing electrical drafting for Aircraft Carriers.

When I was stationed in Okinawa, my wife and the skipper's wife said they'd routinely see Okinawan men "amusing themselves" while just sitting in their car at the side of the road during lunch hour.

It's an odd place.

I was there on Camp Schwab during the first rape that occurred in 95. I was in my final month of a 6 month pump and we were locked to base. We got paid a visit by Commandant of The Marine Corps Gen Krulak and Sgt Maj of The Marine Corps Overstreet. These were not fun times. If memory serves me correctly it was a Corpseman, a sailor and a Marine
