The Inept Thing That Donald Trump Said About Women Who Have Abortions Is Making Pro-lifers Cringe
Life News ^ | 3/30/2016 | Steven Ertelt

Donald Trump is at it again. The Republican presidential candidate who says he’s pro-life but praises the Planned Parenthood abortion business is now making the entirely pro-life movement look ridiculous with his latest comments.

While pro-life advocates yearn for the day when unborn children are protected under law and abortions are banned, the pro-life movement has historically opposed punishing women who have abortions — instead focusing on holding abortion practitioners criminally accountable for the unborn children they kill in abortions.

That pro-woman mentality is partly due to the understand that the abortion industry preys on women — selling them abortions by lying to them about the humanity of their unborn children and the destructive effects abortion will have. The pro-woman, pro-life attitude is also partly due to the fact that the pro-life movement is led by millions of women who had abortions and now deeply regret their decisions, thanks to a change of heart on abortion, or a religious conversion or a simply understanding that they took the life of their own child.

Now, in new comments that are causing even pro-life people to cringe, Donald Trump says women should be punished if abortion is banned again. Here’s more:

In a taped town hall interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews to be aired later on Wednesday, Trump was pressed on how he would go about banning abortion.

“Should abortion be punished? This is not something you can dodge,” Matthews asked him.

“Look, people in certain parts of the Republican Party, conservative Republicans, would say, ‘Yes, it should,’” Trump responded.

Matthews then pressed him for a straight answer on what a ban on abortion would entail.

“Well, you go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places but we have to ban it,” Trump answered.

The former reality television star later added that “there has to be some form of punishment,” for women who get abortions after a ban is implemented, acknowledging the punishment would “have to be determined.”

Leading pro-life advocates on Twitter collectively face-palmed were quick to point out the ineptitude of Trump’s comments, saying they make him loko as if he is not genuinely pro-life:

Per Donald Trump Jr: Be fair, was asked if it was ILLEGAL should there be punishment. Shouldn’t there be consequences for breaking laws?

Illegal actions are punishable.
Legal actions are not punishable.

Trump praised some parts of planet parenthood that help women to deal with the regency and help them guide trough it , he does not support the abortion part.

Plan parenthood has done things to help women and support them trough there p regency, the abortion part they do is a tiny part of all they do and he does not support that.

The women who have abortions are undoubtedly willing participants in the murder of child. Their actions are no different from a mother who participates in the murder of her toddler.

Its not that he’s wrong. Its that its an incredibly charged thing to say and rather silly at this point in the election cycle.

You have to pick your battles.

So he says vile things about women. The head guy in his campaign, who he won’t fire, is being charged for misdemeanor assault on a woman, and is being represented by a lawyer who had to quit his state job in the 90’s for biting a stripper. Now women should be punished for getting abortions. And his supporters can’t figure out why more than 70% of women nationwide can’t stand him.

The problem is, if taxpayer funds got to Planned Parenthood, there is no way to confine that support in a way that excludes abortion.

Why are you making excuses for Planned Parenthood? Its an organization that has murdered millions of babies. They’ve covered up rape, incest, and other abuse.

Thats like saying Genghis Khan had his good points.

Understanding that would require them to acknowledge that they have lost every shred of objectivity that they ever had.

>>Illegal actions are punishable.

Correction: Illegal actions are punishable, IF govt wishes to prosecute.

We see too often the 2 Americas: criminal aliens, tax cheats (Sharpton, Rangle), ‘hate crimes’, gay-stapo, etc.

Hell, even IF they are prosecuted, they (usually) get a slap on the wrist, a small fine while allowed to keep all ill-gotten gains (including taxpayer funded bennies).

If the pro-life movement, with the help of pro-life judges and subsequent legislation can ever prevail in making abortion illegal, punishing the practitioners would work out just fine.
