The University of South Alabama offered an official apology Thursday to a student who was given a citation for “threatening the safety of campus” with an empty holster.

“On April 13, 2016, the University of South Alabama Police Department received an anonymous report that a person in the Student Center may have been carrying an ‘unconcealed gun,’” the university statement begins, adding that “USAPD officers arrived at the location and, following an on-site interview with a student wearing an empty gun holster, issued a campus judicial citation to the student.”

Guns don't kill, Neither do people, but an empty holster does.

What a lunacy.

.... as long as he didn’t point the holster at anybody.

... no telling what could have been in the holster - eg, a shaped pop tart or something

Liberals flip out at the mere sight of an empty holster. They would literally crap all over themselves at the sight of a gun.

Damned right it was a mistake, and it was harassment. A lawsuit is in order.

To wrongly identify someone as carrying an unconcealed gun...there’s something charmingly stupid about that.

I suspect a third of my class would freak if they knew they were sitting next to a ccw student.

a co worker once told me that she had nothing to fear because should some nut come in here shooting, that i would protect her. i responded that people like her made it illegal for me to carry on campus, and she would eb the first to complain if i did carry on campus. and since my office is behind 2 locked secure doors and a concrete wall that i had no problem in a lock down, but hers is in a windowed office right on the main hall, she might be a tad more concerned. and since she is so confident in me that she supports my arrest should i get caught carrying, that i would not raise a finger to help her.

Your logical explanation is assuming a lot of ability to reason on the part of your anti-gun female co-worker. :-)

She wants to be your friend and instead you just rattle off accusations at her?

Sounds like she’s not the only problem

I have had the same kind of exchange with losers here. I tell them I am in it for my family, myself, and like minded patriots. They get really pissy.

Electronic cigarettes remind some people of real cigarettes, so even though vaping can cause no second-hand harm, e-cigs have been outlawed all over the place because it offends the delicate sensibilities of numerous anti-smoking zealots.

An empty holster reminds some people of actual firearms, so even though you can’t shoot anyone with an empty holster, that holster offends the delicate sensibilities of the anti-gun zealots.

Same stupidity, different venue. Surprised it happened in Alabama, though.

this could have all been avoided by simply carrying a banana in the empty holster.

I once advocated that freedom loving individuals in hoplophobic locations like D.C. wear empty holsters and carry copies of the second amendment to pass out when questioned or challenged. Imagine if tens of thousands did so. Lib heads exploding!
