U.S. President Barack Obama will make a historic visit to the site of the world's first atomic bombing in Hiroshima after the G-7 summit in Japan in May, U.S. sources said.

Obama will be the first sitting U.S. president to visit the city, which was devastated by an American nuclear bomb dropped in the final days of World War II on Aug. 6, 1945.

Another stop on the apology tour. Will Obama also apologize when the US firebombed Tokyo killing 100+ K?

Harry Truman was a typical white president.

You know it! He’s got to apologize for America’s victory over Japan!

I’m sure an apology will be forthcoming from Onambla. The Japanese understand that it’s him, and not us who is apologizing.

He will apologize for the atomic bombing. He can do nothing else as this is simply what he is. He has absolutely no understanding of the historical background for the decision and does not want to know. The phrase ‘invincibly ignorant’ comes to mind.

How do you think I feel. This sickening piece of filth comes to NY for the Utterly Nauseating meetings and I don’t want him here ever, for any reason.

I don’t even want him in the country that he hates so much.

The closest this POS has been to combat is the bedroom in the White Hut living quarters.

Millions of Japanese are alive today because we used the bombs. Millions would have died defending their homeland.

The only time he comes to L.A. is when he wants to get money from his ‘Hollywood liberals’ ATM. And he screws up traffic royally each time he does it.

More civilians were killed during the battle of Stalingrad than Hiroshima and Nagasaki combined. Apologize for that, Opricko.

If the media use of historic to characterize whatever Obama is doing were a drinking game these past seven years, we’d all be in comas by now.

Doubtful he’s ever been to PH but I was hoping he’d make a stop at Fukushima. I hear they have some exceptional salt water baths all heated by fission.

The bomb wasn’t “dropped near the end of the war,” it caused the end of the war.

What is the writer trying to imply, that the bombing was not necessary?

You are most correct, but you really should have mentioned the hundreds of thousands casualties that would have been suffered by the AMERICAN Forces during an invasion of Japan
Study the figures for OKINAWA alone, then multiply by 100.
And when America stood in victory the KILLING STOPPED. When both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan stood victorious, the REAL killing began to occur.
