I’ll stick with Vera Lynn on that one.

Cashbox Johnny is singing this arrangement, but the original is a lot better.

I just ran through the American Recordings series last week. What an amazing way to end a life and career.

The fact that Johnny would be dead in just a couple of months adds a little something to his version.

I’m with you on this. I like Johnny Cash, but...it needs a nice female voice to really make it shine, IMO.

Here are a couple more vsrsions:

We'll Meet Again--Kay Kyser & His Orchestra (1941)--a "sweet band" treatment with an ensemble doing the vocals.

We'll Meet Again--Woody Herman & His orchestra--a "swing band" treatmen, with Billie Rogers doing the vocals.

I just think the Vera Lynn version just brings something out, especially the Dr. Strangelove version, for some weird reason!
