REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio - Family photos show a baby with the biggest, bluest of eyes who was just starting to develop his personality.

"He was a happy baby,” Denise Mulkey said of her grandson Haddix. “He loved to be cuddled and held, like normal babies. He just loved to be cuddled.”

Today those photos are all Haddix's mother has left of him.

"I'll have to go see my baby at a cemetery. Not in my arms, at a cemetery,” Katie Mulkey said.

Police said Haddix and his sister were two of eight children Lori Conley was watching in her Reynoldsburg home.

Neighbors say on May 13, they saw Conley run into her yard hysterical. Haddix was in her arms, his face blue. He died that day at the hospital.

True story- when my dad was a baby, my grandma used to tie him to a clothesline in her backyard so he could run back and forth, and she dosed him up with laudanum so she could go to work. Has nothing to do with this story.

Daycare. There are a lot of these home operations around. I feel sorry for the children in them.

One of my Mother’s relatives did that too - laudanum every night at bedtime so they’d sleep. I wonder why they had drug problems when they grew up???

Mexicans are smarter. They boil head lettuce in big pot of water and pour it cooled over baby as last rinse in bedtime bath. No it is not the bath. I have seen it work myself.

I grew up with a boy whose parents gave him laudanum not only at bedtime. He did become a drug addict and the most obnoxious person ever. When he was in his late twenties, he killed his mom and set the apartment on fire. Soon after he was released from jail, he died of a drug overdose. The world is a much safer place now.

Sad thing when a mother has to leave her children with some moron so she can go to work to support her family. Sign of the times.

Unless she was a rape victim, she chose to fornicate and this is still bad and this is one of the reasons why. Kids need a married mom and dad and their own parents raising them. Of course in the absence of that, you just do the best you can.

The woman who allowed her own child to fall into a gorilla habitat and nearly be killed reportedly works at “a daycare”. Think about that one.
