These days it is impossible to be a Director of the FBI unless powerful interests have “the goods” on you such that you can be blackmailed and could never pursue criminal charges against them.

That information can be exchanged (sold/traded) among the elites as a commodity.

Hillary would have access to that data.

Conclusion: she will not be indicted.

I agree with every point. People are making too much of Obama’s endorsement. OF COURSE he endorsed HRC. Sitting Presidents always (eventually) endorse their party's nominees. When the FBI report comes out, Obama will claim (semi-plausibly) that much in it about the Clinton Family Foundation was news to him. DOJ either will indict or recommend a special prosecutor be appointed. Behind the scenes, Obama will tell HRC, “I'll fully pardon you and all your cronies as I walk out the White House door, but only if you step aside and let someone else be the Dem running for President.” HRC will accept the offer because the PR surrounding the, say, special prosecutor, may help Trump win, and if Obama doesn't pardon her, you can bet President Trump won't.

Don't lose hope, Freepers. That's exactly what HRC is banking on.

Comey is certainly in a tough spot. But consider what happens if he supports a cover up.

1. The FBI will forever be tagged as just another corrupt Federal Government organization. Despite what we read here on FR, the FBI has been reasonably free of political influence. Not completely free but reasonably so.

2. Comey will forever be remembered as the man who was willing to sacrifice the reputation of the FBI to save his own career.

3. Comey will realize that Trump will quickly get to the truth of the matter if he wins in November. More bad news for Comey who will immediately be discredited and will likely need to resign.

All this is running through Comey’s head.
What will he do?
Obama knows.
We don’t.

My rough estimate is that at least three out of four times that conservatives look to someone in authority to do the right thing, that someone buckles under pressure. What does Comey care if conservatives are left shocked and outraged at Hillary beating the rap if there are sufficient personal and political incentives to make that the best choice for Comey?

Comey can do whatever he likes. But if chooses to play along with Obama and Trump wins he is in a heap of trouble. If he plays it straight and Trump wins he’s a big hero.

And if Comey does take his orders from Obama the morale of the FBI Rank and File will be zippo. Comey’s name will be dirt.
