NASA is dead set on leaving Low-Earth Orbit to go to the moon, Mars and other farther destinations.

NASA will sell it to private corporation which in turn will be bought by Bezos or another billionaire who will turn it into their own private retreat.

I like the idea that a private company could have five or more space stations of the size depicted in the movie, as well as two or more varieties of space shuttles.

Contract Science.
Charge smaller countries to send ‘astronauts’ there so they can brag about having a space program.
Zero G manufacture.

None these make enough to BIULD a space station, but they might all together make enough to keep one running.
