And now she’s responsible for the mess we’re in.

How? For refusing her husband's invitation to a sex club?

If you are only going to see one, may I strongly suggest A Piece of the Action?

I recently learned an interesting bit of Star Trek trivia. At the time the top studio for network TV (well, there wasn’t any other kind) was Desilu, then run by Lucille Ball after she bought out Desi Arnaz. Roddenberry pitched Star Trek to Desilu, who turned it down. Lucille, however, thought it was a great idea and overruled her own Board to produce the series. If she hadn’t done that, we may have never had this 50 year franchise.

Greatest Sci-Fi franchise ever, although it did get better after its Communist creator (Gene Roddenberry) was no longer running it.

You have perhaps an example?

That’s a lot of cultural ignorance to be bragging about. Most folks keep their lack of knowledge to themselves.

What do you mean?

Too many left wing premises in many of the story lines.

(We've eliminated money and capital punishment, et al)

Too much advocacy for obviously left wing causes.

I’m actually quite proud of the fact I have never seen it.

I was in my 30s when it started and was too damned busy for television.

I remember someone yelling at it in the dorm TV room: “Great! A spaceship with tail fins!”

The first two seasons of Star Trek: TNG sucked eggs. Basically because Roddenberry was intent on it being a "non-violent action-adventure series" where all conflicts were solved peacefully.

Then he died, and his successors went back to shoot 'em up battles with the Romulans and introduced the Borg. The show got much, much better then.

That’s pretty much from TNG and beyond, not TOS.

It was always fascinating that hundreds of years in the future, women working on advanced space ships would be wearing mini skirts, go-go boots and beehive hairdos.
