Very sad news. Such a great sportsman and a true gentleman.

We were in Latrobe a few weeks ago, and my cousin, who went to school with Arnold, said he had heard he wasn’t doing well.

REST IN PEACE ARNIE. You’ll be golfing with God.

And Sam Snead.

One can only imagine how many people the great Arnold Palmer inspired to take up the game of golf.

RIP and Godspeed, Arnie.

What I loved about Arnold Palmer was he acted like the rest of us. I remember watching him miss a very makable short putt and he got so mad he started pounding the ground with the club then threw it. Luckily it didn’t hit anybody. Then he lite a cigarette and went to the next hole.

LOL. Arnie was awesome. At 50, I still do that every week. However, I am trying to learn how to swing correctly without a smoke in my mouth.

Arnold was among the first to write about the mental aspects of the game. Bought his books and read them until the covers came off. I loved the way he snapped the club forward after his follow-through, as if pointing to where he wanted it to go. It brings a tear.

About 20 years ago he was in a Senior Skins Game vs. Nicklaus, Floyd & someone else. Not only did Arnie out drive the guys who were 10 years younger, he LOOKED younger than Nicklaus.

A year or two later he had prostate surgery and turned into a little, old man. I wonder if “watchful waiting” wouldn't have been the better option.

Arnold, Mantle, Unitas, Wilt, Gordie Howe... :(

I was sorry to hear this.

I love those commercials for blood thinner medication, with Kevin Nealon (sp?), the race car driver and basketball player. They show good humor, class and sportsmanship.

He was one of my grandfather’s (an avid golfer) favorites.
