“I do NOT remember ever hearing this.”

It was more of a “club hit” than a “radio hit”. If you were a rock n roller who didn’t hit the dance clubs, it was easy to miss. The band that did it was really just 2 members of the Talking Heads doing a side project.

Sounds like you saw them on the tour when they filmed the “Stop Making Sense” movie.

The Eurythmics music was very professionally written and produced, mostly by David Stewart and Annie. All parts were seamlessly compatible. The sum total effects were pleasing to the ear and energizing to the spirit. “Sweet Dreams” being but one of the gems. Only Anne Lennox with her Areatha Franklin voice juxtaposed with her “Thin White Duke” persona could have pulled it off with essence and mystique intact.
That group was High Art. Grace Jones was also unique and influential in her way. Both “Lily’s” guilded to perfection.

Sounds like one of those things that’s only funny when it happens to someone else. I’d have wanted to yell at that kid the whole trip.

Was overjoyed when Much Music somehow showed up as the fifth channel on our terrestrial TV lineup in 1985! Even won a MM sweatshirt (way too small) for calling in during the middle of the night to answer a trivia question on Phantom, Rocker, & Slick!!

I saw the Talking Heads back in the stone age and it was one of the most fun concerts I was ever attended.

The broadcast day of CBC was really missed when the large satellite industry went up up smoke. They always seemed to have shows airing that were over and above any seen here in the wonderful USA. The Red Green show was one we watched on a weekly basis, and the old retro British movies from yonder days. And, of course, their music channel. Many great videos seen on that station’s transponder. Living where we do it was almost the only way we would be hearing new recording artists, as radio stations were not as reliable in coming thru clearly.

These two videos were seen day after day on that channel. Just love them!

That would explain it :-/ Good thing the club days are far behind me, as the closest club round these parts is on the softball field.

Tom Tom Club is actually a side project from members of the Talking Heads. The song is revolutionary is that it helped jump-start the hip-hop scene (yeah yeah I know most FReepers hate rap, but the beat to this song influenced a lot of artists).

This beat is one of the most sampled beats in hip-hop, right up there with James Brown "The Funky Drummer" which in some cases serve as the actual beat in most rap songs.
