[Vanity] How can I post an article if the title is too long to fit?
Self | 10/24/16 | Paul R.

I tried to post an article about the death of Tyson Gay's daughter, and it was apparently pulled because the title of the post was only a portion of the original. Trouble is, the original title was too long to fit (way over 100 characters). What the heck? Can it only be posted as a vanity that will be largely ignored?

Mods or others PLEASE advise!

This is very frustrating, esp. when my internet is acting up and I spent almost an hour I don't have trying to post a very tragic article that raises a lot of questions about our kids... :-(

Ok, that’s pretty much what I tried to do, except I didn’t know about the [tr].

The article was on The Daily Mail UK website, and I have a lot of trouble trying to copy / paste from it anyway (my browser locks up repeatedly, using either IE or Chrome - possibly due to all the ads.) Not to mention trying to get my questions about the insanity of the whole story “right”.

I guess I’ll hit the hay now - may try to repost later next week, as the next 2-3 days are going to be horribly busy.

Thanks for the info., tho’!

Begin with the first word in the title then fill in the title blank until you have copied pasted in the entire title.

Everything after the first 100 characters will get clipped off, but you will have made it possible for other FReepers
to discover your thread via Free Republic’s fabulous search engine http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search and thus avoid
duplication, while saving us volunteer Mods from having to pull your thread.

FWIW, I did save the link to the story:

Yes! The Daily Mail’s titles are basically the full article! lol. Notoriously long.

Better luck next time. I know I’ve had articles removed that it took me a LONG time to post, and it’s VERY frustrating.

Beaversmom, please do not edit any published title.

The use of ellipses in your description: " then put, dot, dot, dot," abbreviated words, and other methods to alter, edit or create variations of published titles make it very difficult for all the other FReepers who follow the rules and copy then paste complete, unaltered published titles only into the space allotted for title.

Thank you.
