I'm heading to Williamsburg again. The Bruton Parish Church, the church of the Founding Fathers, isn't having a Thanksgiving Day Mass again which annoys me. But a great time will be had.

Fire pit. We want one. We have a burn pit made of brick in the upper back yard 'cuz we need to burn off so much brush and felled limbs all the time, but we've been under an 'exceptional' drought (one category above 'extreme') for so long, most days it's illegal to do any burning. It's a tinderbox down here. Weeks since so much as a drop has fallen, and there's no end in sight. Last week, we caught a perfect storm of the north GA/NC widlfire smoke, along with the smoke coming from the controlled burns at Fort Benning. The air had this acrid, sour smell, and visibility was below one mile in some areas. I came home for lunch and had to close all the windows (much to the Rat Pack's dismay) because the odor of wet, stale smoke was permeating everything. And the last thing we need to smell is the aftermath of a house fire. If God lets me live three hundred years, I'll never get that smell out of my nose. Or the visions out of my mind.

Me too, I wish they would leave all that stuff in. Beside the commercials these old programs played “commercials” for America and the freedoms we have. Apparently the BB sees that those are edited out.

Oh, yeah! The house fire smell. It’s like (but WAY different) the Katrina smell (moldy-like) everything here had after that monster storm.

Our little “fire bowl” is just one of those cheapo wok-like things with a frame, about a yard diameter. It’s nice, and we bought a pile of firewood from our neighbor who cuts and sells it.

We went through that mold-like smell after The Great Flood of 2000. Spent two months living in a single-wide while they dried the place out and put in a new downstairs and half the first floor ceiling. Had to have an electrician rewire the whole place after all the wiring rotted two years after that.

That house hated our guts.

I want to buy one of those fire pit kits from Lowe's. And the missus wants a hot tub. And I want a new boat (we got lots of lakes and marinas around here). But, like my late daddy used to say, people in Hell want ice water.

OK, gang, time to go grab a fresh beer, a plate of hot BBQ Jack Daniels cheddar and pepper jack L'il Smokies and some warm German potato salad, and settle in on the sofa with Mrs. Viking and the raccoons to watch The Walking Dead. And the rest of the Redskins-Packers game. (Washington drew first blood. 7-0.).

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Yes, well, the little fire bowls are less than 50 bucks, probably, and the hot tub—I believe is a bit more. :-D
