America’s Oldest Hunter? 103-Year-Old Hunter Bags Biggest Buck of His Life

Here’s a feel-good hunting story for you. A 103-year-old hunter bagged the biggest buck of his life, and his granddaughter was right there with him to witness it all.

On November 8, Clyde Roberts, a 103-year-old hunter, went out to his trusty old treestand and bagged the biggest buck of his life. He was hunting with his granddaughter, Christin, who said, “I will never forget it.”

“Papa like to tell everyone that I got so excited… of course I did!” Christin said. “Not only had I been able to hunt with my 103-year-old grandfather, but I witnessed him take the biggest buck of his life. Most importantly I had the hunt of my lifetime with him! It was one of the most awe-inspiring moments of my hunting career. I will never forget it.”

Her grandfather might just be the oldest active deer hunter in the country, and being with him on this hunt is a moment that Christin will be able to cherish for the rest of her life.

Christin posted a picture of Clyde with his buck on her Facebook, and in the post she wrote, “the best part was when he knelt down and thanked the good Lord!” If that doesn’t send a chill down your spine, I don’t know what will.

Congratulations on your buck Mr. Roberts, a great deer and an even better story to go with it. Keep hunting those bucks, sir!

Last year I sent you a photo of my Grandfather with his buck he took shortly after turning 102 years old. Today, I had the privilege of accompanying him to his trusty treestand and watching him take this beautiful buck after I took him to Vote! It was truly the hunt of a lifetime for both of us. The best part was when he knelt down and thanked the Good Lord! Papa turned 103 a few days ago!

That’s crazy. I thought I was going to see a guy in a wheel chair with a gun. What an incredible story. Can’t believe he is climbing up a tree stand at that age.

I swear I will do what I can to be this guy one day 70-something years from now.

Part of me feels like this HAS to be a Michigan man too. He just has that face.

104? In a tree stand?

I’m not near that old and I’m thinking it might be time to build a ground blind.

I know some will be apoplectic but I will say it anyway. It is ironic that a guy nearing his own death thought it was necessary to take the life of one of God’s helpless creatures before he goes. What a euphemism. She saw him “take” this beautiful buck.

Tell me, at what age should one contemplate one’s death and quit hunting because of God’s beautiful creatures?

Is God more pleased with vegans?

Deer kill more people than any other animal. Culling keeps herds from starving. People outside of California actually eat venison, rather than throwing the carcasses in the dump...

I want to look half that good when I’m 70. Must be from all that good livin’ in the great outdoors. This guy looks like he could live another 30 years.

I can’t tell if this is the poster’s grandfather or the grandfather talked about by the granddaughter in the story. Which is it?

People eat venison in California. They also have at least two large farms that raise deer for meat.

Wild animals seldom experience a peaceful, pain-free death. Frozen or starved to death in the winter, chased down by predators that rip them apart while still living, struck by a car, felled by disease.

A quick death by gunshot beats any of those.
