A 25-year-old FIU graduate, who pled guilty in a deadly DUI crash, begged for forgiveness from her victims families before accepting her 5-year prison term.
Video at site.
5 years, thats it? Cripes drive over someone if you want to murder them, thats what the court is saying here. Geezitz.
Should be 25 years minimum. The victim and the family should be afforded justice.
So she’ll get her Masters degree, courtesy of the taxpayer?
She’ll probably be able to get a PhD if she stays in for at least 4 ....
She copped a plea.
Times have changed a bit since the 1980s when my brother and three of his buddies were pushing their car on the side of the road on a snowy night and a young drunk woman driver plowed into them, seriously injuring every single one of them; my brother lost a leg, the trauma sending him into 20 years of spiraling drug abuse (he’s doing great now).
The young woman drunk driver had had two previous drunk driving crashes with little repercussion except a raise in her insurance rates.
What happened to her the third time?
Locked away are the bad, the mad, and the sad.
Only five years for killing someone? When you drink and drive it ought to be malice murder
No one forced her to drink. That was her decision. It was also her decision to get behind the wheel while drunk.
Dang...
DUI first offense - 50 strokes with a cane.
Second offense - death.
Watch the DUI rate plummet to 1/10th of what it is now.
I’m tired of misplaced compassion that condemns thousands of innocents a year to death and misery.
If she’s genuinely remorseful and will genuinely change her ways, I’ll forgive her, but my forgiveness isn’t the forgiveness that she needs. And, she still has to serve her prison term. Forgiveness and rendering unto Caesar as far as court sentencing are two entirely different things.
Glad your brother is doing well now.
I once lost a friend to a drunk driver; the poor guy wished he could have died as well. Living after killing an innocent person carries its own punishment; something that few people here try to understand.
Did you watch the video?
Seems legit.
I do worry a little when someone like this says “she’ll never stop fighting to prevent other tragedies like this from happening again.”
35 years ago a friend of mine was drunk and hit a telephone pole, killing his passenger. He got one year in jail. Karma got him 5 years later. He died in his sleep after Scuba diving. Blood clot to the Brain, 26 years old.
