Excellent watch-dog. She answers the door just before someone knocks (birds have excellent hearing).
Outside in the yard we have three "watch-geese" (Larry, Moe and Curly) They defend the place with a passion. I get a charge out of watching people react to them...can't yell "down boy" to a large goose that is trying to bite and "wing whip" them.
RIP, Bird.
In my house the birds watch me. The girls are the head and shoulder hoppers and the males watch the females and follow them everywhere.
Well then “Happy Bird Day.”
Nice! We get juncos, too, mostly in the flower garden by the jasmine trellis. We left the zinnias there to go to seed, and several species hang out there, in spite of its proximity to Jake, the brown tabby. No blue jays: Tom the Mocker chases them off. He also goes after the giant raven (bringing the Allfather’s blessing to Tom the Son, or so I’m told).
We’ve had a red-tailed hawk visit a couple of times, sitting on the pergola where the feeders hang. That clears the yard! I haven’t seen him lately: he probably concluded this isn’t a good spot for him, with no large open spaces.
That must be extremely interesting.
