She won’t win. Emma Stone will take it.
Why are you discriminating against the disinterested?
Why aren't we allowed to have a seat at the table?
Why do you interested people always treat us like second class citizens?
What's it going to take for you to recognize the basic human rights of the disinterested??
We demand equality!!
Just to be fair to our readers, my wife and I thought Arrival was one of the better SciFi movies we had ever seen.
The row behind us (couples about our age) felt like you did.
SciFi is something that rarely translates well to film barring an occasional Space Opera (Star Wars) or fantasy (LOR) we have all seen more good stories ruined than amplified. I will say it is a “thinker” so if you want action packed drama, this is not it.
I think Meryl Streep is good at her craft?
For a person that is told where to stand while she reads words written by someone else all the while being told how to react by a director she is pretty good at following orders.
We are an entertaining group that is for sure. Have a great day!!!!!
I think so. It has to be seen by end of 2016. I don’t think it is even fully released yet.
We all like what we like. :)
Hope you & yours have a great day FRiend.
Streep was only nominated because of the Golden Globes speech. Her performance in Florence Foster Jenkins wasn’t that great.
Who cares. I haven,t been to a movie in years also. I could care less about the oscars or anything that has to do with Hollywood. I’d like to see Hollywood become a ghost town with tumble weeds rolling down the streets.
Yet somehow it got a bunch of nominations including one for Gibson
The list of yawn washing my car is more productive than viewing the Oscars.
Hollywood loves a$$ patting ego parties for some strange idea they think they are of worth.
He last time I watched the Oscars was back in ‘74 when The Streaker ran onto the stage while David Niven was speaking.
Yes - totally agree. In those years Hollywood had Stars - these days it is filled with nit wit “Celebrities”. Yes, Hackshaw Ridge was a deeply moving film - but it won’t win. I will NOT be watching the Academy Awards. You already know that the minute the show starts it will be a non stop free for all of bashing Trump remarks. I don’t need to be insulted. I will watch Turner Classic Movies that night or read.
For that very reason I doubt she will win. If she did and she did a repeat it would suck all oxygen out of the post Oscar buzz regardless of how well it was received. Plus what I watched on the local news here someone said the movie wasn’t very good.
Reading words written by someone else all the while being told how to react by a director is the craft.
;)
Fences, a very boring 2 1/2 hours of a family arguing in their backyard. Awful.
My husband and I seldom go to the movies. For us, retired military, Hacksaw Ridge, was the most compelling recent military movie. The book and movie are autobiographical, and author is to be respected.

Well, it was a play.
It was more of a play than a movie. Good point.
