A devout woman, she credits her personal relationship with Jesus Christ for enabling her to keep competing.

“The Lord keeps putting me together – I've broken every bone in my body, I have a titanium leg and I have a plate and screws in my arm,” she said. “I just follow the lead of the Lord and try to be obedient.”

And, she added with a smile, “I don't want to retire, and I think I have the mount back on Blue (Haze of Fire).”

Even as a follower of the sport, I was unaware of this jockey (person) until I read the article following the race. A rather impressive moment but more so when she credits her relationship with Jesus. I thought some here may be interested.

I follow the races too, and I wasn’t aware of her either.
I have noticed before the races many jocks pray before the start of a race. Uriel Lopez, a Chicago jockey points up to heaven after ever win, giving credit to God for getting him safely to the winners circle.

Very nice.

Wow, 62 is old even for a jockey. Not sure if Shoemaker quite made it that old in the irons.

Love the races.

Now if only he’d actually refrain from living in sin!

Arrogate may indeed be the next really great one. At least a Ghostzapper.

Too bad for California Chrome, who was better than I thought way back. Just didn’t have it anymore. Good time to go out.
