I almost forgot about them too, and their victims

The eternal Thompson gunner
still wandering through the night
Now it’s ten years later but he still keeps up the fight
In Ireland, in Lebanon, in Palestine and Berkeley
Patty Hearst heard the burst of Roland’s Thompson gun and bought it

“Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner”. Wasn’t he from Johanesburg?

I don't know, haven't thought about it in decades. Back then, I think I thought it was crazy that she flipped to her kidnapper's side. Even back then, I had a dislike for the Hearst family because of their liberal propaganda machine and twisted reporting. So no love lost for them when she got kidnapped (if it really was a kidnapping). When she got captured by authorities, I remember friends saying "Wow, so cool that it's happening right here around us!". Everyone was more into the excitement factor than anything about politics. I probably thought she was guilty of the crimes, and not truly coerced.

I think he was Norwegian, a mercenary from the ‘land of the midnight sun.’ But he blew Van Owen’s body
from Mombasa to Johanasburg.

Thank you for your thoughts. I have always wondered if it was legitimate.

Thanks, I had forgotten that line. Warren Zevon was highly under estimated.

Yeah he was a tremendous song writer that had an unique edge and could rock out.

I believed the Sockholm Syndrome was at work. Patti H. was kept in a closet, and raped, and brutalized. Complete turnaround from her upbringing in a monied, protected family. When the gang fell apart, Patti H. was hiding out with a member of the gang, Wendy Yoshimura was her name, I think.
