Good move on Trump's part.
Know that the story line in the liberal MSM leading up to the correspondent's dinner would be all about the media, and who would or, wouldn't show. The show boater talking heads like Chuck Todd would make a big deal by stating that they would not be attending. Network anchors likewise.

Hope so. This event was going to be cruel, evil and all sorts of other adjectives. Our president, like our greatest presidents, has serious work to do. He doesn’t need to waste time trying to prove he’s a standup comedian.

This is the same dinner where Obama roasted Trump a few years back as he sat in the audience, and the crowd yucked it up as Obama went well beyond lighthearted ribbing and made it fully obvious his intent was to humiliate Trump.
