My wife just said Emma Stone just said she was Holding her Card the whole time this was going on at the end, so it wasn't her card that got mixed up. As you said, maybe only the accounting firm knows. Of course, they can't change their mind now. .

There are photos on twitter of the close up of the card in Beatty’s hand. It says Best Actress in a Leading Role on it. There must have been two printed.

Perhaps there was a second best actress card in error. I read several years ago, that only one person in the accounting firm knows the winners. He is required to memorize the winners in case there is a mistake and this person is backstage watching.
