I retired right at age 65 from my university. While weather was a major concern about staying in OH, I could have taught 2-3 more years at a very high salary.

However, I could read the tea leaves about political correctness, and prophesied to others before I left they would have a hard time teaching honestly very soon due to “diversity” and the need to not offend anyone. It is impossible to teach ANY truth and “not offend” someone.

Some of them blew me off. We’ll see. But I’m guessing that at least SOME of my concerns are reflected in this mass retirement at PSU.

I think you are probably right just due to the overwhelming response they got for that offer.

I wish they would offer me early retirement. I’d be gone and making more money in the private sector.
