Over the years, biologists have tested a variety of strategies to contain the snakes, including releasing females outfitted with radio trackers to act as ‘Judas’ snakes, snake-sniffing dogs and an iPhone app that lets people immediately report a snake sighting. This past year, the state hired a pair of Irula tribesmen, whose ancestors helped hunt pythons to extinction in India, to track down snakes.

What??? I didn't see the video, but, man, if they are all knotted up in a ball, it seems like the perfect target for 00 buckshot, not choked down at all. Four or five shots into that ball of snakes and they are all dead... Or so it seems to me. What am I doing wrong?

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for drone strikes. Maybe use something harmful to snakes like a poisoned pellet. Find a snake, shoot the pellet at it. If it touches the snake the snake starts to melt or something to that effect.
You could make it a booth at a state fair. 5 bucks for 15 minutes of drone play.

Actually, that is good advice for some other issues we are facing.

As for the article, a person could make some good money catching the snakes alive and selling them outside of Florida. Of course, the big nasty ones would probably have to be turned into boots and belts and python sausages.

Andy, I don’t want to start an argument with you; but your statement troubled me.
We hunt for food. And good, ethical, time-honored hunting practices guide us; i.e. use what you kill; and make the kill clean and merciful.
I don’t see any sport in making the dispatch cruel.
