NSA official: Reports that British spied on Trump 'arrant aren't nonsense'

There. Headline fixed.

A top National Security Agency official called allegations that President Barack Obama directed a British spy agency to wiretap Donald Trump during the presidential campaign "arrant nonsense." NSA Deputy Director Richard Ledgett told BBC News in an interview published Saturday that the claim showed "a complete lack of understanding in how the relationship works." Each side is barred from asking for such prohibited actions, he added.

“Arrant” is a great word!

Not to be confused with “errant”, as in “my errant fist accidentally popped the skull of a stinky antifa whore who badly needs a shave”.

So he says it w as not done because it is prohibited? Since when do governments like the UK or the US obey the rules at all times?

The key is in the meaning of “spy”. That they regularly intercept all international communications and that they use foreign intelligence to spy on Americans is well known - written about long ago by James Bamford.

There are retroactive search warrants that cover bits recorded in the past that can now be “listened to” by humans this time.

This is nothing but pushing the plausible deniability.

What is more interesting is apparently Trump has now been co-opted by the intelligence people - we are continuing down the path of world government - power in the hands of the ruling elite. This is not what Trump won on.

Apparently they showed how they could destroy him with the Russian bit - and he is now turned...

Sad times.

Saw a Discovery Channel show and they talked of a joint USA and British spy center designed to monitor all calls and internet traffic. Can’t recall name of the site but it was something like Mendenhill or hall.

CNN, the Crap News Network and a muslim-infiltrated NSA, because of eight years of Obama.

Yeah, they sound squeaky-clean and not fake at all.

There used to be a British airbase at Mildenhall ... perhaps, when they closed it, they turned it over to the spooks.

Yeah right...CNN??? Who would take anything they had to say with a grain of salt?

Of course they are going to back up and protect all the ‘globalists’ that tried to bring our Country down...

I wouldn’t waste the time to read their trash nor give them a ‘click bait’ a click...

They are the ‘arm of the ruination of America’!!!

What's the "....This guy's a piece of work...." all about? You make it sound like there's something wrong with the guy. I didn't see anything untoward about him at the link.

What gives or did I misunderstand?

This article was written about a month ago. It’s interesting because the truth is now coming out-that the Brits did spy on Trump and his associates.

A little elaboration on your link:

British Wiretapping

Past British Prime Ministers have been implicated in various scandals involving wiretaps. Some have involved the “Echelon” global surveillance system set up by the NSA with its counterparts in the other “Five Eyes” nations—UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Any one of these countries is able to circumvent domestic laws against spying on their own citizens by asking another Echelon member country to do it for them. This is precisely the “wiretap shell game” used by the Obama administration to have British GCHQ spy on Trump, as outlined by Judge Napolitano and his sources.

To avoid unraveling the longstanding Five Eyes spying “wiretap shell game,” the GCHQ had to pretend they “routinely” came across this Trump-Russia wiretap data “by chance,” unprompted by requests from U.S. agencies (such as the NSA or CIA) or by Obama officials, working outside normal NSA chain of command on Signals Intelligence or SIGINT (as Judge Napolitano reported on March 14).

How long ago did Five Eyes aka Operation Echelon have the Brits spying on Americans and vice versa?

How about it started during WW II.

BBC on Echelon: Big brother without a cause?

The Echelon spy system, whose existence has only recently been acknowledged by US officials, is capable of hoovering up millions of phone calls, faxes and emails a minute.

Crack open a fresh beer or pour a big glass of wine and take a baby aspirin and then go to the link below for about 5 minutes. Remember while reading this. Echelon was retired decades ago by the faster and more powerful Muscular.

As I recall they asked the Brits for transcripts of things getting recorded anyway.

The head of Britain’s electronic surveillance agency GCHQ* has resigned!

23 January 2017*
Robert Hannigan, who has held the post of GCHQ director since 2014, said he was stepping down for family reasons.
He said he was proud of his work but that 20 years in public service roles had “demanded a great deal of my ever patient and understanding family”.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said Mr Hannigan had “led the renewal” of national security capabilities to fight terrorism during his time at GCHQ.

Mr Hannigan was director general of defence and intelligence at the Foreign Office before taking over the leadership of GCHQ in 2014.

In a letter to the foreign secretary, he said he was proud of the work he had done and “how many lives have been saved in this country and overseas by the work of GCHQ” but added “now is the right time for a change in direction”.

Mr Hannigan said it was “right” that a new director be in place ready for GCHQ’s 100th anniversary in 2019, but he would stay in the post until a replacement was appointed.
‘Cyber defences’

Sources have told BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera that the resignation was not the result of any concerns over policy in the UK or in the US.

Mr Johnson thanked him for his service, saying he had “set the groundwork for a major transformation of our cyber defences” during his tenure.

There will now be an internal competition within government to identify candidates for the job. Recommendations will then be sent to Mr Johnson and Prime Minister Theresa May for a final decision.

Mr Hannigan was born in Gloucestershire and is a married father-of-two.
He was previously responsible for the UK’s first cyber security strategy, oversaw the first national security strategy, and chaired Cobra emergency committee meetings on terrorist incidents.
He also worked as principal adviser to then Prime Minister Tony Blair on the Northern Ireland peace process.

so, if AIM is correct, then Ledgett is using very specific weasel words to deny a very specific allegation.
