The four-week-old has been named Sky by her rescuers

A tiny kitten was snatched by a seagull from a Welsh holiday park and then dropped from the sky.

The four-week-old has now been named Sky by the RSPCA Cymru officers who rescued her.

The horror attack happened at the Golden Sands Holiday Camp, at Sandy Cove, Rhyl.

She was spotted by members of the public after being attacked by gulls and then dropped from the sky by one of the birds.

It is believed the kitten came from a colony of feral cats living close to the holiday park.

Sky was unhurt, despite the incident, and will now be hand-reared by staff at the RSPCA's Bryn-Y-Maen Animal Centre.

It is hoped she will be made available for re-homing, once she is old enough.

William Galvin, RSPCA animal collection officer, said: "This poor kitten must have been through a terrifying ordeal - seemingly swooped upon by a gull, before being dropped to the ground.

"We're grateful to a member of the public who spotted her and notified us, and thankfully she was rescued unhurt.

"Sky is very young, and will now be hand-reared at our Animal Centre, and should be available for re-homing when she is old enough."

Is she a Tortie? (Tortise shell color.) I had a barn cat that was. Really cool cat I got as a wee kitten. So wild I had to keep her in a cardboard box for a day or three. I think that was the one who decided to crawl into an open dresser drawer shortly after I got her. Got down in the back and the drawer was then shut. I was on a road trip in another state when she went missing. Fortunately someone heard her cries while I was on the phone and she was too skinny to get crushed. Whew! She would visit me in bed late at night and gently touch me with a paw, so as not to disturb me.

Those seagulls are crafty buggers. There is a bike path by the ocean in Long Beach CA that is lined with cliffs covered with ice plant. The seagulls would grab these big snails that lived on the cliffs and then hover over the concrete bike path and drop the snails onto the bike path to crack the shells, then swoop down and grab the soft tasty insides. Some days I would ride through there and the path was covered with snailshells, and if you weren’t careful, they would drop them on your head. I’ve never heard of them trying to crack and eat kittens though!

I have seen them land on sea otters, then steal food right out of the otter’s paw.

She really is an adorable little baby. And lucky, too, that the fall didn’t kill her.

I just adopted a little tortie, about 10 months old.

While I understand Nature and survival etc, any lost Seagulls out here in the mountains messing with kittens will wind up like the coyotes that don’t come around anymore...fertilizer.

“Those seagulls are crafty buggers”

They sure are! Many years ago, while walking through Epcot with my daughter’s family, a seagull flew by and snatched a French fry right out of my grandson’s hand.

Talk about bold!

Back about 15 years ago, my in-laws were on an outing with a group of other elderly people at a park near the ocean. A seagull swooped down as one of the men was grilling and swiped a hot dog right off the grill.

(My husband’s parents are both gone now. God rest their souls.)

We had a tortoise shell kitten brought to us at three weeks old - got away from its mom somehow and no one knew where. We hand-fed her for a couple weeks until she could eat solid food then, just before we were to have her fixed, she got preggers and gave us a beauty of a calico. Wish I knew how to post pics.

I’ve seen one snag a steak off a grill. Small steak on a sailboat. No store open to get another steak. Fortunately lots of wine.

"Kitten rescued after being snatched and then dropped from the sky by seagulls"

I thought seagulls preferred junk food.
