The numbers are all publicly available. 4.5 million dollars a year to “house” 400 inmates in a “facility” designed for 2000 = pure BOONDOGGLE.
Arpaio talked tough and was great at publicity.
The fact that all this stuff regarding prisoners didn’t really impact the crime rate or recidivism rate doesn’t really matter.
Honestly, I feel like the politician in American history he most resembled was Mayor Daley - who was fantastic at large gestures that made his voters feel great but that ultimately meant nothing.

You bet. I’d also want to see a report on actual costs from real cost accountants. I’ve been involved with government long enough to know that most of the accounting folks employed by the government aren’t up to the task.
Frankly that’s stupid. Blowing more money just so you can feel like they’re being “punished” is just outright dumb. Especially when you remember that it was a minimum security prison for work release. There’s simply no valid reason they should be punished more.
As for the costs, the government has open books. Look it up yourself.
Out here in reality Arpaio was a crappy sheriff who put up a stupid prison just so he could feel tough and wasted tax payer money with it for 25 freaking years.
Cooperating with the INS and later ICE in arresting illegal aliens and taking them off the welfare rolls and out of our nation.

No the resident experts on controlling the border. The same folks who supported Trump over Clinton. If they are telling us that Arpaio’s programs worked, it is worth listening to. Penzone will bring NJ values (typically, a liberal who is a little too good to serve in the military) to Maricopa county. Illegal immigrants can rest easier.
No, the guys that know if he actually was doing a good job it would make them look bad. If they are telling us that Arpaio was doing their job to their satisfaction then he wasn’t doing it well.
Penzone is moving illegal immigrant felons into the general population. He is no longer cooperating with ICE. That tells me why the border patrol folks hold him in such contempt. There will be more rapes, murders, etc. committed because of Penzone’s anti-citizen actions. Liberals might be happy with him, Americans won’t be.
Are they still in jail? Not cooperating with ICE could be a matter of him holding them in contempt, and frankly given how crappy they are at their job that’s the correct attitude.
