When I enlisted just after high school in 1961 we had to fill out a medical questionnaire. It had a long checklist of diseases to which we were supposed to answer yes or no. One of the items was "homosexual tendencies".
I would like to see today's version of that document. Maybe an active duty FReeper can obtain it?
Searched for pre-enlistment medical forms. Got this:
DOD has replaced the use of the SF 93 with the DD Form 2807-1 and 2807-2. DD Form 2807-2 is used by recruiters to “pre-screen” applicants.

When I enlisted (Army) in '69 I remember a multi-page list of political organizations and being asked to note any of them to which I belonged. But I don't recall any list of diseases, perhaps because at that time I was in perfect health and would have just automatically have said "no" to each one.So if "homosexual tendencies" was on it I guess I just didn't notice it.
Sometimes when I watch MASH I wonder if there really were any Cpl Klingers in the services during WWII/Korea/Vietnam and,if so,how they made out.
Why not? The black guy emerges victorious from his battles with numerous white bad guys.
For those who aren't aware, Richard Pryor was one of the screenwriters for this movie. His albums were played often in the dorm I lived in. The bit on "Mudbone" is a riot.
