Bethesdas bringing paid mods (ugh) back to Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition this summer with its new Creation Club, which offers new content you buy with credits. Per Bethesda, here's what the Creation Club will offer:
Weapons: New weapons, material skins, parts, etc. Apparel: New outfits, armor, and items for your character. Worlds: New locations, decorations, foliage, etc. Characters: New abilities, characters, companions, etc. Creatures: New enemies, mounts, pets, etc. Gameplay: New types of gameplay like survival mode, etc.
But a FAQ on the Creation Club website also says mods will remain a free and open system where anyone can create and share what theyd like, which makes it sound like the current third-party modding system will remain in place, while the Creation Club focuses on curated official high quality content that goes through Bethesdas internal quality assurance system.
Well have to see how this goes.

That’s a good visual description of what is happening in the YouTube comments and the Bethesda subreddit forum since their E3 conference. Biggest backlash I’ve seen, uh, well, since Bioware took a big, fat SJW dump on the Mass Effect series a couple of months ago.
Better living. Underground.
Huh? Not a clue what you’re talking about. Guess I’ve been under a rock. LoL
I’m sure it’s a very nice rock.
German Nazi killin time.
i hate when they ‘modernize’ wolfenstein...im still using RTCW and Wolfenstein ET, classics...
As usual normal people like you and I have found a way to make a little money entertaining people, and big companies had to take their cut for doing just about nothing.
The game mods are a great way for Youtubers to make money - Creating entertaining videos for publishing on Youtube. Now of course, Youtube/Google/Alphabet want their cut for hosting it (Which is like building a car only for the parking garage to charge you $499 a month to park it while you make $1 profit on it’s use) but now the game company found a way to cash in on it as well.
Paid mods are great for some things, but there is no way they’ll make a dime on things like... I dunno.. Rick&Morty mods.
GTA could have a wonderful world if they would support the mods already out there - zombie mods and the like would be great sellers without the Youtube part of the equation.
