I was going according to what the arrest record said. I am surprised that it was only marijuana involved if they charged for a different class group.

The article in your link also had another link embedded in it. I found this there.

***An anonymous informant told FBI agents that the suspect on the phone was known as ‘Trey,’ later confirmed by officials to be Owens. The informant also explained that “a male stole his narcotics from Motel 6 and that he was going to kidnap a child to get his narcotics back.”***

Since marijuana isn’t a narcotic, perhaps there were other drugs involved as well? I don’t know, I’m just wondering aloud.

I’m sorry this poor child was killed because she knew someone who was into drugs. She had nothing to do with it. It’s terrible. As I said in my earlier post, when drugs are involved, there are victims. It doesn’t matter which kind. Alcohol, marijuana, illegal substances, as well as pharmaceuticals. Drug abuse is drug abuse.

“When was the last time the Budweiser rep killed the Miller rep’s kid over market share?”

Well, around 10,000 die each year in alcohol related traffic accidents, so the alcohol dealers aren't slackers.

“but WHY make it so available to our young people?...knowing what drug use can do to people....WHY push it so much?..”

Great point.
Also, if pot is so harmless, why do so many employers require clean drug test? Even the cart cowboys at Wal-Mart, chasing the silver buffalo across the asphalt prairie, are required to pass a drug test.

God told us to never touch a specific tree and its fruit. We failed, and we now call it original sin. And the consequences of it were far more serious than murder.

So try finding some other Biblical allusion to abuse in the estsblishment of the Religion of Pot, the new ROP.

But just remember God is against us placing any part of his creation above Him. And he is against idolatry.

Can you imagine a WeedWanker stoned out of his or her mind gaurding the exits of a WalMart? The shoplifters of the world would have a field day.

I received two Amber Alerts on my phone last Wednesday, with Shavon’s being the second, and then a piece on the news with her photo and interviews with her loved ones, and details that they were being contacted with demands for money (if I remember correctly). I then saw her follow-up story on the news this past Monday evening. Heartbreaking. This was the first time I remember finding out what happened to a child who was the subject of an Amber Alert I received.

There had better be hell to pay. God rest this little girl’s soul.

Before I make my point, it is necessary that you understand that I don’t like drugs and I don’t use them, otherwise you will believe that my position is based on some vested interest in wanting people to get drugs.

You can’t stop people from doing what they want to do. The best you can do is adopt policies that minimize the harm that people do to themselves. That’s why alcohol is regulated to ensure a product that people will use to get drunk has a minimal harm attached to it. They are going to drink alcohol, no matter what, so the best thing to do is regulate it so it doesn’t kill anybody or blind them and regulate their sale so that people aren’t influenced to buy unregulated booze from the back of a pickup, even if some would do that anyway.

The only way to deal with drugs is in this fashion. Regulate them and allow their sale in a recognized outlet, to ensure quality and safety. You would take care of 80% of the drug war by this. People would be far less interested in drugs, like crack or meth if they could buy lesser harmful drugs in a legal way, even though there will always be a small market for those that want to buy hard drugs.

WHY make it so available to our young people?

It's marijuana criminalization that makes it so available to our young people, by putting in the black market beyond the reach of effective regulation such as age limits; young people have been reporting for years that they can get marijuana more easily than beer or cigarettes.
