Any special recognition for Pete Rose? My response will not be "NO!" nor will it be "HELL NO!", it would be "HELL NO AND DON'T EVEN THINK OF ASKING AGAIN!" The most positive thing that Pete Rose can do for baseball is go away.
And Aaron Hernandez was a great Tight End.
He has issues as a human being, he earned his lifetime ban and no one should be doing it with underage persons.
Aaron Hernandez doesn’t hold a candle for professional performance.
Pete didn’t kill anybody, either.
“Lolita”
Yes, what you said. I am not a defender of Pete Rose or sex crimes, but this was allegedly 44 years ago. And just now seeing the light of day?
I suggest you dig a little deeper into The Cobb’s history than just phony stories made up by a jilted journalist before lumping him in the Pete Rose trash can.
Do you get the feeling that Pete Rose is the sleaziest sports figure since Mike Tyson?
And Lance Armstrong is ten times the athlete Rose ever was.
All the stories about Cobb may not be true. But the consensus seems to be that he was not a very nice guy.
The “stories” about Ty Cobb are NOT true. He was a nice guy, and was NOT racist.
over rated average singles hitter....half those singles were “astro turf” singles....and the “other stuff” also goes towards eligibility. Joe Jackson was never reinstated and neither should this creep....
plus he lied about it over and over....besides...half his “hits” were “astro turf infield” singles...overrated knuckle head...
You may be right, what I meant was “not playing by the rules” of the league. Gambling was against the rules of the league.
I should have been more clear.
He would not have made a AAA his last year and only played to break the record
A bogus record by him IMHO
Cobb hit 312 his last year and if he knew a slunk like Rose would hang on to break his record he could have played at least another year
“over rated average singles hitter....half those singles were astro turf singles.”
“Rose, a switch hitter, is the all-time MLB leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053), singles (3,215), and outs (10,328).[1] He won three World Series rings, three batting titles, one Most Valuable Player Award, two Gold Gloves, the Rookie of the Year Award, and also made 17 All-Star appearances at an unequaled five different positions (second baseman, left fielder, right fielder, third baseman, and first baseman). Rose won both of his Gold Gloves as an outfielder in 1969 and 1970.”
Hall of fame? Absolutely YES!
I agree with you. Since when did anyone become obligated to put anyone into the HOF?
he goes in, joe jackson goes in. period.
“I suggest you dig a little deeper into The Cobbs history than just phony stories made up by a jilted journalist before lumping him in the Pete Rose trash can.”
Appreciate your post, would have said something like it. I did just that a couple years ago and was quite impressed, even though I never had any disrespect for him. My late father always said Cobb was a great player despite what the press said, and by then I also knew not to trust my local newspaper or the nearby NY Times, to which at one time I was forced to subscribe for a school project, which REALLY ticked off my dad.
“Rose was, is and always will be a Pig.”
To be fair, Pete Rose is not as big of a Pig as Steven Seagal, who in 1987 had two wives and a pregnant girlfriend.
