Comey, Mueller bungled big anthrax case together
Orange County Register ^ | May 21, 2017 | Carl M. Cannon

...when I heard Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had appointed Bob Mueller as a special prosecutor, I didn’t experience the same rhapsody as my capital compatriots. Why? Three reasons.

First, Jim Comey and Bob Mueller have a long history as professional allies. For Mueller to be brought in to investigate the behavior of the guy who sacked Comey seems a conflict of interest. Perhaps this is the wrong way to look at it, and Mueller’s professionalism will supersede any personal loyalty. OK, but here’s a second reason: These two guys, working in tandem, have a track record of bureaucratic infighting — with another Republican White House as their shared adversary — that belies their reputations for being above political intrigue.

The third and most important factor tempering my enthusiasm for the new special prosecutor is that Comey and Mueller badly bungled the biggest case they ever handled. They botched the investigation of the 2001 anthrax letter attacks that took five lives and infected 17 other people, shut down the U.S. Capitol and Washington’s mail system, solidified the Bush administration’s antipathy for Iraq, and eventually, when the facts finally came out, made the FBI look feckless, incompetent, and easily manipulated by outside political pressure.

While running for president, Donald Trump promised to “drain the swamp.” So here’s the question: How does official Washington, which clearly does not want to be drained, think the 63 million people who voted for Trump will feel about an investigation run by D.C. insiders with a history of grandstanding — an investigation that some Democrats and commentators are saying aloud they hope will end in impeachment?

I’d say this is worth a few Trump tweets.

Mueller needs to be charged with criminal charges for refusal to reveal his conflicts of interest. That would stop this nonsense in its tracks. Not that it will end the Left’s treasonous activities. Trump needs to help himself here. Get on the ball and/or take some action.

Advice to democrat swamp dwellers: Don’t even think about it. The Americans will hunt you down like the rabid dogs you are.

“Perhaps”, my ass. Unmitigated Bullshit. The sooner Trump realizes the deck is stacked against him and fires both these quizlings, the better off the Republic will be. “Full speed ahead...damn the torpedos”...and the Libs.

Clarification:

Comey and Mueller did not “bungle” the anthrax case; they knowingly prosecuted and destroyed a man they knew to be completely innocent, all for political gain.

That alone calls for a long prison sentence.

If you look at the history of the “Amerithrax” investigation it is a tragi-comic trail of ruined lives of innocent people victimized by an out of control agency. It is very much of a piece with Waco, Ruby Ridge and the Atlanta bombing investigations. The FBI came to see themselves as a law unto itself. Judge (Dredd), jury and executioner - they didn’t hesitate to rack up a body count both literal and figurative to get their man.

Look up Kenneth Berry, Steven Hatfill and Richard Jewell for the non-lethal casualties.

One of the Bureau’s primary investigative tools is the news media. They use it to flush targets into the open and as a form of extrajudicial punishment through leaks of derogatory information. What else was Comey’s press conference on Hillary’s emails? Satisfying as it is to see the lying witch slapped around publicly, it isn’t how things are supposed to be done and was highly unfair to her and the cause of justice.

But the FBI are also susceptible to manipulation by the press and outside groups. In the case of the Amerithrax investigation they were buffaloed by Barbara Hatch Rosenberg and Nicholas Kristoff.

Usually, eventually, the Bureau gets around to arresting the right person because the Bureau is staffed with thousands of skilled and determined investigators. But it is a Washington bureaucracy and its leadership are pure swamp creatures, just like all the other bureaucracies. The higher profile the case, the more likely that the politicians are going to get involved. This is how you get a dog’s breakfast like Amerithrax

Mueller was warned by England, Russia and Saudi Arabia about the Boston Bombers and look what happened. He was warned about the Ft. Hood and San Bernardino killers and look what happened. He has a long history of purposefully ignoring terrorist warnings.
