This map shows if clouds will block the solar eclipse in your state
Business Insider ^ | Leanna Garfield

The United States will see a total solar eclipse on August 21 for the first time in decades. Some people are traveling hundreds of miles to cities in the line of totality, like Nashville, Tennessee and Salem, Oregon.

But there is one thing that could put a damper on the event: clouds.

Esri, an international supplier of geographic information system (GIS) software, has created a cloud-cover prediction map for the time of the eclipse in every state. Michael Zeiler, a geographer at Esri, is producing new maps every day leading up to the eclipse.

(the linked article, shows projected skies for the eclipse)

Couldn’t afford the glasses, his welding mask is probably not dark enough and all I have left are 980nm infrared camera filters which are black as sin and you can’t see the sun at high noon on a blazing day, through ‘em.

Gonna watch it on Science Chanel.

:\

Looks like the only place clouds will likely be a (big) problem is southeast Nebraska, of the spots with the full eclipse.

Again, REMEMBER TO USE PROPER SHIELDING FOR YOUR EYES.

Guaranteed, there will be people who are left at least partly blinded, because they didn’t.

Let’s not let any FReepers be among those.

What you do is look for some trees with lots of leaves and look at the eclipse on a wall behind the trees.

The light that hits the wall , through the trees will sparkle.

If the filter on his mask is rated No. 14 or higher, you’re good to go.

You will see dozens of crescent suns thrown by sunlight coming through small gaps between the leaves.

Forget the eclipse, bigger story is that we will be battling a giant interplanetary rabbit as it hops all over the Earth!
Just look at the size of it!

*I’m urging you to notify all your Alt-Left, Antifa neighbors to stare at the sun as long as possible so they no longer have to look at anyone that offends them. Since it seems that everyone else offends them, we’ve done a worthwhile public service. You’re welcome ‘Merica.*

You can always make a "pinhole camera".

Basically just make a hole in paper/cardboard if ya don't have trees and wall.

Goggles for a welding torch won’t be dark enough. An arc welding mask will. Don’t hurt those beautiful eyes of yours! ;’)

Again, REMEMBER TO USE PROPER SHIELDING FOR YOUR EYES.

During the partial phase but check to the second for your location when it reaches totality and it will be safe to watch with naked eye. Be sure you know how long totality will last so you will know when to put eye protection back on.

If you are in path of totality, then it is okay to watch with naked eye but ONLY while it is in total phase.
