The Slow Death of the Republican Party
Breitbart ^ | 27 Aug 2017 | Brent Bozell III

Posted on 08/27/2017 4:52:46 PM PDT by arthurus

constituents and they are about to learn that they’ve been double-crossed — for years.

Every Republican candidate’s stock speech sounds the same, the thunderous roar about a government out of control, federal spending out of control (insert charts and graphs and why, if you stack hundred dollar bills, they will reach the edge of the universe), federal taxes out of control (insert comparisons to socialist countries), the federal bureaucracy out of control (insert metaphors about chains, yokes, and the like), the family shattered with federal funding of abortion a crime against humanity (watch for it — there! The heart-wrenching sob), and our military is emasculated.

Two more items were added to the menu, courtesy of Obama. Obamacare Will Be Repealed! and Illegal Immigration Will Not Stand!

Look. Most rational conservatives wish the Republican Party were devoid of RINOs, people like McCain, Flake ,Snow, neocons and the rest. But if the Party becomes functionally divided and starts running candidates against each other and splitting the vote, the socialist Democrats will take power nationally and they know how to exercise it.

This piece by Brent Bozell is a good read. In the first few paragraphs he draws the perfect picture of the GOP since the days of "W". It shows how we have been snookered by all our congress critters and how they lied and lied and lied.

And now their lies have caught up with them—GOP has the Senate, GOP has the House, GOP has POTUS. And all the years they lied are now due. We gave them EVERYTHING. They gave us NOTHING.

It seems that most Republicans have a pretty dim view of most national Republican office holders, yet continue to reelect their own Republican squishes.

There either have to be a lot of Dims voting for the most leftward Republican candidate in open primary elections or Republican primary voters tend to be low information voters.

Most people don’t have the luxury of resignation, despair or taking to their beds. There is a difference between those who gravitate to the Democratic Party and those who choose Republicans. There is a difference in values, policies, personalities and ideals. Until there is a better vehicle to take the difficult and frustrating political journey than the Republican Party, it is appropriate to stay with it, reform it and elect people who are conservative or at least vote mostly with conservatives. Otherwise you are conceding the country and the future of your family to the vile, persistent, decadent socialists.

So you’re saying we should hold our noses again in 2018 and buy another Mark Levin book.

Lucky for us, the swamp is confined to DC. Unlike the socialists in Washington, Republicans at the state level actually deliver. Take for example gun laws being loosened all over the country, right-to-work laws spreading like wildfire, North Carolina’s bathroom law and Texas’ sanctuary city law. Could you even imagine ANY of those being passed at the federal level? If we’re not entirely free at the federal level, we can at least be thankful that we are at the state level.

Stay with it, how?

The GOP has control of Washington and the majority of states. What are they doing with it?

“But if the Party becomes functionally divided and starts running candidates against each other and splitting the vote, the socialist Democrats will take power nationally and they know how to exercise it.”

What, so we should allow the GOPe to survive because it is a lesser evil?

Well, guess what: Trump showed us that the GOPe is every bit as bad as the demonrats. That argument just isn’t going to fly any more.
