An engineering student who was also an LGBTQ activist was shot and killed by Georgia Tech campus police on Saturday night, officials said Sunday.
The school identified the victim as Scout Schultz, 21, a fourth-year engineering student from Lilburn, Georgia, who police said was armed with a knife. Schultz, president of Georgia Tech's Pride Alliance, identified as non-binary and intersex and preferred to be referred to with they/them gender pronouns, according to the alliance's website.
At a news conference Monday, Schultz"s family's attorney said the student was experiencing a "mental breakdown" on the night on the shooting.
"What was Scout doing that day? Standing there disoriented, having a mental breakdown and was shot from 20 feet away," said the attorney, L. Chris Stewart.

“They” is confused.
“Why did you have to shoot?” Bill Schultz asked at a news conference Monday. “That’s the only question that matters right now. Why did you kill my son.”
It was actually a male, who’s birth name was Scott.
He started out as a guy, and is dead now....so it doesn’t matter any longer.
I would speculate that drugs or hormones played a role in early demise.
The Father is a moron. They shot because his son refused repeated commands to drop the knife and advanced on Police Officers with drawn weapons.
Don’t you know? It’s a non-binary intersex freakazoid mutant plus tax. I’m waiting for the first person to say that to my face “Please do not call me he or she, call me they” so I can tell them “If you are both genders, then you must be able to go F yourself”.
And a lack of brains and common sense, contributed greatly to he/she/it’s demise.

Thank you. I was completely puzzled. Normally, if they say somebody is a trans-something (such as trans-woman), you can substitute the word “fake” and you will know this person’s actual sex. Not “gender,” which is for nouns, but what the chromosomes say.
But when they don’t say even what they are “trans,” how is one to know?
This young man was clearly disturbed and clearly wanted to be shot. It’s a pity that they obliged, but that’s one of the risks of wanting to be shot.

It is sad a smart young man is dead. It is sad that his parents let him develop love like this. It is sad his peers didn’t detect his suicidal impulses. It is sad the lead was responding officer didn’t have a taser and the right opportunity and time to use it before unrelenting ad advance with a deadly weapon. It is sad campus culture encourages acting out delusions.
All this sadness however does not overcome the true action of an adult advancing on an officer of the law wth a deadly weapon despite a dozen orders to cease his threat.
He had a mental breakdown quite some time ago, it seems.........................
Scott was male who liked to wear dresses.
He made a bad decision to approach armed officers with a knife saying “shoot me”.
Mentally ill people often make bad decisions.
Hey! Another conservative from Tallahassee, awesome! Yeah, you pegged it. There are plenty of other standoffs like this... normally deemed “suicide by cop”. Only the LGBTQ political aspect made this one a news report.

Methinks the "mental breakdown" started LONG BEFORE the night of the shooting. So sad to see this crap infecting engineering. Maybe it couldn't square the hard logic, mathematical precision, and empiricism required in engineering with the flakiness required to be a "nonbinary it."
