This could be a treasure trove. They used toilets to dump all their personal stuff that was broken or not used anymore.

Absolutely. Why dig another hole? Archaeologists love this stuff.

So maybe those guys they keep catching down in the bottom of national park outhouses are just amateur archaeologists?

Absolutely. Privies and old wells, too. When they discoverd the original well at Jamestowne, it was filled with armor, helmets, old shoes and even a broken sword that had been dumped in there when the colonists were about to vacate the fort. It was a goldmine of artifacts. Also coins..because you know what happens to the change in your pocket when you drop your drawers....

I’m a history/archeology junkie! I think this is sooo cool!!! P.R.’s trash!!!

I’ve been to Williamsburg at least 25 times or more. You find an outhouse, you find archeological gold.

Spend at least at least one long weekend a year going to someplace historic in the mid-Atlantic.....and with an outlet mall. LOL!

We use to have a Freeper here, SunkenCiv who did archeology threads all the time. Miss him/her dearly. Fantastic posts.
