Yeah - those team caps (salaries) are on the way down - may take 3-5 years.

I view this with some sorrow.

The nation I grew up in and became comfortable with, is dying.

I’ve not been a big follower of the NFL, but it was there. I appreciated the militaristic type of campaign resulting in touch-downs.

I enjoyed watching games, but would not be accurate if I said I did it very often.

The is a part of American going down the commode.

I realize they are talking about schools here, but it is a real shame this sport is being dismantled like this.

“Everything liberalism touches, it destroys.”

I agree, but from a personal perspective, I lost interest in the NFL when it became the league of overweight, unhealthy, marginally athletic players, with attitude.

well, back in the day, football was a unifying activity. you took your HS girlfriend to the friday night game; mine wasn't a cheerleader but was on the cheer squad and we loved it. my university won a national championship: exciting, even though I had nothing to do with their success beyond cheering them on. even pro ball was fun before free agency. rooting for uniforms? not so much.

I know people who played (HS-college) football in their youth and are now suffering from injuries they got.

It used to be if you were on the football team it was much easier to date the hot girls in the school. Nowadays, that doesn’t seem to be so much the case.

Invent a name game something like kick the can but more fancy. It might be more in sync with the situation and more useful in the years to come.

When were players ever faster, stronger or otherwise more athletic in any way that can be measured?

Have you looked at the percentage body fat of offensive and defensive linemen anytime recently? From an athletic perspective, football players are amongst the biggest pu**ies in all of sports. Without question.

Football was accorded too much respect and given too much priority. We ended up glorifying thugs who didn’t actually get an education for the most part. This has contributed to our ongoing march to the world of Idiocracy.

Without these football programs, maybe people will have to get educations instead of getting out of actually having to do the work just because they’re good at a childrens’ game.

That’s not entirely the fault of football. There’s the LUG phenomenon - many girls are “Lesbian Until Graduation” now.

And of those that aren’t, many don’t feel like getting smacked around by angry, stupid thugs who get free passes on bad behavior because they’re on the football team. Can’t say I blame them.

No, but I'd be very interested. Where do I find them?

If fewer people have those fond memories of playing in high school or watching the high school game, fewer people will watch the NFL. This will kill the sport, Given the behavior of professional players, I don’t particularly mind. Let them flip burgers.

Baseball and football are two of the many reasons we won WWII. BTW, American Pickers can be really depressing sometimes.

Due to their political allies on the left, they won’t even have that. The Fight For $15 people have ensured that the burger flipping will all be done by automation.

Baseball is still trying to dig out from the aftermath of their last strike and most of them aren’t stupid enough to start pissing off the fans again.

The NFL? Weeeeellllll...... Not so much, and it seems they’re going to have to have it hurt first. Really, really hurt.

Also, the professional football played today bears little resemblance to the game that helped win a war.

Thanks. Interesting that the “athletic” positions have higher body fat than “skilled”.

It’s pretty obvious that linemen have the highest percentage but I’m looking for some support for the claim that it’s been getting higher and that they’re less athletic than they used to be.
