this is cheerful news.
well, back in the day, football was a unifying activity. you took your HS girlfriend to the friday night game; mine wasn't a cheerleader but was on the cheer squad and we loved it. my university won a national championship: exciting, even though I had nothing to do with their success beyond cheering them on. even pro ball was fun before free agency. rooting for uniforms? not so much.
I know people who played (HS-college) football in their youth and are now suffering from injuries they got.

I know someone who was forced out of professional football because of an injury and became a veterinarian instead. He probably does not earn even a fraction of what he could have earned had he stayed with the NFL.

I know men in their 50’s whose high light of their life was football in high school. I have felt sad for them.
It is a game, and one I enjoyed. But all sports come to an end for the players. One man said that playing ball was the “Last time I felt special, that I mattered.” He has kids, grand kids, and family
Sports help some, it destroys others.
