“5-2, not bad. Ill have to break out my Villanueva jersey.”
Newly bought before he cowarded out?
Obviously, you don’t go about trying to get a trade in public. That seems to just make it difficult to get your wish. He shot himself in the foot with his 2016 suspension, but the talent is certainly there.
I have just a slight amount of sympathy for him not getting a bigger role this year and Pittsburgh looks like they don’t really need him right now. In college, at Clemson, he had to compete with Sammy Watkins, DeAndre Hopkins and Jaron Brown, to name a few, for playing time.
His mom worked at a textile mill to make ends meet and he graduated from a military academy growing up so there’s something to work with there. 6’4”, 230 lbs and fast is a nice combo to work with.
Heck, send him to my Giants for a 7th and let’s see if his mouth can be matched by his play. We’ll know soon enough if he washes out of the league.
I bought it before the team made him do a mea culpa.
“I bought it before the team made him do a mea culpa.”
The planning, creativity and detail of Villenueva’s “mea culpa” reminded me of McCain’s fawning “concession” speech in November 2008.
Villenueva’s bravery is as overrated as Ace’s patriotism.
I guess the NFL has no standards left to be proud of.
Almost related...
Im no longer a MLB fan, but even so, NL vs. NL in the World Series is just WRONG, even if you dont like the DH.
I’m not sure what you mean... the Astros are a FORMER National League team, but have been rebuilt since then as an American League team. And, since you are no longer an MLB fan, you wouldn’t know that the American League Astros are extremely respectable, decent, and self-effacing. The youngsters of Altuve, Correa, and Springer are very humble (in public), and deserve their success from working hard.
/yes, I am an Astros fan, from the early 80’s on. Yes, I whinged and complained about the move to the American League, specifically the West with all the late night game starts... and Yes, I’m extremely pleased the team brought in Verlander.
Thanks, another poster since corrected me, and I realized how long it’s been since I was a fan, and I used to be a serious one, especially in May 1991 for Ryan’s last no-hitter.
Nolan Ryan sent me an autographed baseball card once upon a time. Still have it.
Rats, Texas Rangers.
Apologies.
Right state, wrong team.
Wow, guess it’s been more than 20 years since I seriously cared for America’s sport.
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet.
I remember the Mike Scott no hitter, and the Cesar Cedeno, Jose Cruz, and my favorite Ken Caminiti.
I’m guessing “Martavis” is not a white guy.
Altuve and the Astros will make short work of the Dodgers, Kershaw can’t pitch every night.
