What if we wake up and find this has all been a dream and JR wasn’t really shot?

Well, if John C. Breckinridge had defeated Abe Lincoln in 1860, where would Colon "BLM-BUM" Kreepyknee be today?

“The dims might have run the dead body of Stalin.”

They came close to that last time with Bernie.

You recall correctly. And the only reason Clinton first ran for the presidency was because he had nothing to lose. GHWB’s post-Desert Storm approval ratings were so high, no other Democrat felt he/she had a chance, so didn’t bother running. So Hart or not, we would most likely have ended up right where we are today.

"If Dukakis had beaten Bush in '88..."

Would the Soviet Union still have collapsed (with Dukakis taking credit, of course)? Or would Dukakis have rescued it?

But then Saddam Hussein would still be in power and Al Gore would have passed a ton of environmental nonsense like methane emissions from unicorns.

Maybe, maybe not - there is no way of knowing how such a scenario would have played out. However, one thing is certain: There would currently be an ultra-liberal justice sitting in the seat currently held by Clarence Thomas now, as well as the last 25+ years with all of the numerous 5-4 conservative decisions going the other way over the course of those 25 years. Now what effect do you think that would have had on the country?

The same could be said if Pat Buchanan had beaten Bush.
