In Silence of the Lambs, the bad guy wanted to become a woman by wearing their skins.
Could they even write such a script today? The murdering and skinning part would still be OK, but not the gender-confused-character-is-evil part.
I was just watching some old Benny Hill clips....This one had him yelling at his child who was off-camera....
“I don’t care if you are 17 years old, you are not going out with all that makeup on your face, and wearing a mini-skirt.......Malcolm!”
Nowadays, people would watch that and think, “I don’t get the joke.”
