Samsung has been hit by another battery issue.

Galaxy Note 8 owners have reported that they are unable to charge or turn on their handsets after the batteries ran dry.

Samsung has confirmed the issue, saying it has received 'a very limited number of reports which could be associated with the power management circuit.'

However, it appears the issue is affecting only a small number of users.

Samsung advises affected users to get warranty replacements for their Note 8.

According to a Samsung spokesperson, 'we are unable to comment further until we obtain more specific information from the phone,' according to Engadget.

'Any consumers with questions about their device should contact us directly at 1-800-SAMSUNG so that we can help them.'

Why do phones need to upgrade every year anyway? I have a Samsung S6 and its perfect.

Answer: They don’t, but the battery in them does.
The typical battery for a cell phone will last about 3 years with slight performance drop as the battery ages. Here’s the zinger. If you get a spare battery for the phone when you get the phone itself, and just keep it in a drawer, unused until needed, it will be at the end of its life just like the battery in the phone. It really needs to be new not sitting on a shelf in storage.

Apple has a battery problem and tries to address it - users scream and feign outrage, bring class action lawsuits, Samsung has a battery problems and ignores them until they explode - users are bemused and silent.

Life just ain't fair, is it? :)

I use a Samsung at the moment, my 2nd, but have no brand loyalty whatsoever when it comes the phones.

Go into battery settings, there is an app running all of the time. Turn it/them off to not notify you, always run in background.

Got a new pixel 2 a few months ago, leaving the Samsung line because of their curved screen edge. Pixel 2 battery lasts about 2 days.

Bought one of those activity monitors and installed its app. That app would drain my battery in less than a day. Easy to find what was doing it.

The new phones for the big names don’t let you in to the battery anymore. No spare battery to buy.

Yeah, that’s a sneaky way to implement planned obsolescence. Isn’t it?

Ditto on my S5 and her Note4. Just replaced the batteries in both and we are good to go! I have no need to pay insane amounts to replace a device that don't need replacin'!

“...leaving the Samsung line because of their curved screen edge.”

Love my Samsung S8...but never understood the benefit of the curved edge. Turned off all edge related functions except “flashing edge” when the screen is face down and the phone rings. The beveled edge is really a nuisance when playing Spider.

A cell phone without a replaceable battery is a disposable phone with no used phone market for something that will become a brick unless you pay to have it opened and battery replaced.

The way to beat this scam is to purchase a 4-year warranty that covers the battery.
