My daughter left England yesterday. She got hung up due to strong winds in Iceland for several hours. They finally found a takeoff window and she landed in Chicago around 11 last night.
Not the same storm by any means, but I assume she would have been stranded if any significant snow hit England.
The first rule is “buy all the bread”.

We’ve had a relatively mild winter. The most snow at any one time was 6”. That’s for PIKERS, LOL!
We did have that sub-zero week at the end of December, but also - for PIKERS! ;)
Today it is sunny, no wind and high 40’s. All of the dogs are snoozin’ on the front porch. :)

Relatively mild, but a couple-three snow storms of close to 12”.
47 and sunny here, today. Supposed to be 50 the next few days, then wintry mix Friday!
Funny...and that old adage, “don’t eat the yellow snow” comes to mind.
We haven’t had much snow, but we’ve had so much rain on frozen ground that my backyard is a skating rink! There’s a slab of ice 4 inches thick back there.
The storm mentioned here will occur in Europe, but it shows the panicking shopper before a massive snow storm

You know, the run to the store for bread, eggs, milk, hot chocolate, gasoline, and maybe for some makings for some winter storm "comfort foods" !!
It's been wet in the Gulf, it's been a warm thaw in the East, and the Pacific Coast has been getting rain and snow,as has Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee.
We have been lulled into complacency - but it's still WINTER !!
If Joe Bastardi at Weatherbell.com is correct, the blocking weather pattern is changing, and winter is returning with a vengeance starting around March 4th.
